Draft Profile - Round 1 - Shaq Lawson - DE - Clemson

With day one of the 2016 NFL Draft in the bag it would seem that Rex Ryan got his guy. With the 19th overall selection the Bills brought in Clemson DE Shaq Lawson. Lawson is nothing short of a monster, standing 6'3 and weighing in at 269 lbs. he has the ability to do battle with even the most stout of offensive tackles. If his stature and athleticism weren't enough let's not forget to mention his MASSIVE 10" mitts that have been touted as some of the most aggressive hands in this draft. This young man is no stranger to on field production either, finishing his collegiate career with a total of 20 sacks and 45.5 tackles for loss (12.5/25.5 in 2015 alone!) which is not too shabby for a guy who was stuck behind Vic Beasley on the depth chart for his first two seasons. The Bills organization has already announced that Lawson is their projected starter at DE opposite of Jerry Hughes for the 2016 season, a vacancy created with the release of veteran pass rusher Mario Williams back at the beginning of March. Hopefully Lawson's experience playing 5-technique in Clemson's system can carry over and give the Bills some much needed versatility on the edge.
